Dear Parents
Our last full week of the year has been most exciting and enjoyable.
The Grade 7 production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ was truly exceptional and thoroughly enjoyed by the whole school on Monday morning, by the pupils of Belvedere School and the residents of Masonic Lodge, Athol Evans, Darby and Joan, B S Leon and Pleasant Ways on Tuesday afternoon and by parents and friends last night. Our congratulations must go to all the Grade 7 pupils, to Mrs Omarshah and Mrs Fick and of course to Mrs Van Stryp. This was Mrs Van Stryp’s last production as she retires at the end of the term and will be returning to South Africa, but what a production to end on.
On Monday evening our Boarders had their Christmas party including a delicious supper and presents for all.
Our Synchronised swimmers competed in the inaugural Inter-School synchronised swimming competition against Hellenic, which we hosted this morning. Hellenic is the only other school that currently does synchronised swimming. Both, our teams, and the Hellenic team’s performances were stunning. Our congratulations go to all of them and to Mrs Wanyanya who teaches our seniors and to Mrs Kockott who teachers our juniors and the Hellenic seniors.
Grade 5S deserves to be mentioned as yesterday morning they reaped the vegetables they have been growing in agriculture, including cabbages, spinach, tomotoes, onions, green peppers and carrots and with the help of Sara Rudland and our kitchen, used all the vegetables to cook a delicious soup that was taken to a shelter for orphans. Thanks must also go to Mr Taylor and Francis for all their advice and help with the agriculture projects being undertaken by our classes.
Next week is the last week of school. On Monday evening we will be holding our Carol Concert with all pupils in Grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 taking part. The Carol Concert will begin at 6:00pm with pupils expected by 5:30pm.
Our Annual Prize Giving will be held on Tuesday evening at 6:00pm. All pupils in Grades 5, 6 and 7 are expected to attend as well as prize winners from the other grades, who have all been informed. All parents are invited to attend this function.
School ends for all pupils, except Grade 7’s, on Wednesday after Final Assembly that will begin at 11:00am. All parents are invited to attend Final Assembly.
Term ends for teachers and Grade 7’s on Thursday with the final function of the year being the Grade 7’s Leavers Dinner on Thursday evening.
