Dear Parents
Half Term was enjoyed by all and we are now well into the second and very hectic half of the term, ending our first week on a most colourful note with our pupils all wearing something orange in support of KidsCan Day (Children’s Cancer Relief).
We have started our new Afternoon Activities Programme, which includes House Practices for the Inter-House Athletics.
On Tuesday the new PTA Committee held its first meeting after being elected into office at the AGM. Mr Sam Samu was elected Chairman for the next year and the Committee Members were given their various responsibilities. We wish them all a most successful year and we all look forward to their events.
The PTA is traditionally supported by the Grade 5 parents with a Class Representative elected from each class to liaise with the PTA. Would all Grade 5 parents please attend a short meeting in the hall next Friday at 12:30pm to organize a Grade 5 Committee and Class Reprensentatives.
Our week ended with a talk by the Peterhouse Rector and Head of Peterhouse Girls to our Grade 6 & 7 pupils and parents.
There are a number of activities next week. Firstly, next week is ‘Book Week’. All classes will be undertaking activities to promote reading for pleasure, which is hugely important. Book Week will end with the ‘Book Week Dress Up Day’ next Friday.
We will be welcoming five schools to Bishopslea next Wednesday to our Bishopslea Invitational Athletics Track Meet, which is an annual event that is looked forward to.
Then on Thursday evening our Grade 6’s will be putting on their very popular ‘Cultural Evening’ production starting at 6:30pm. All parents and friends are invited to attend and to join other parents for refreshments, being sold by the PTA, before the production.
The National Institute of Allied Art’s Eisteddfod begins next week with our soloists and marimba groups competing. The Choirs will compete the following week as per the amended calendar for the second half of the term as attached.
Please note the changes, including changes to the Jumps Afternoons and the inclusion of the Eisteddfod Concert.
Next week will end with our Cross Country A & B teams travelling to Lilfordia School to take part in the ‘3 Woods Cross Country’ which is the biggest Cross Country event of the year.
We wish our Athletics and Cross Country teams every success next week.
