Dear Parents
I am sure the current cholera situation is of concern to everyone.

We are taking the situation very seriously and have implemented a number of new measures this week as well as ensuring compliance of measures already in place.  These include purchasing all drinking water that is consumed in the school.  Drinking water in clearly marked 20L containers is available around the school for all pupils.  Cleanliness and hygiene are our top priorities at the moment with every part of the school being monitored carefully.  We are even providing clean water for our boarders to rinse with after brushing their teeth.

In order to help our staff, we are providing them all with a 20 litre bucket, a bottle of bleach (Jik), a measuring device and an instructional handout for them to take home to enable them to purify water for their families.  For those unaware, two drops of unscented bleach in a litre of water, or 5ml of bleach in a 20L bucket, stirred and left for half an hour (Important) renders the water safe for drinking.  This can be Googled to confirm and is the simplest way of purifying water.  We have also undertaken an educational awareness campaign with the pupils, including showing them some WHO cartoon clips to help them appreciate the seriousness of cholera.

Please note that in view of the current situation, we have been asked to postpone the Sponsored Walk and Fun Day to a date to be advised.

Our first week of Afternoon Activities has gone very smoothly with everyone quickly back into routine.

On Saturday 15 September our Wildlife Quiz team, Mbali Sikala, Zoe Fick, Stephanie Russell and Fransisca Esterhuizen Rocha will be participating in the Mashonaland Finals at Hellenic Primary school. We wish them every success.

Also on Saturday the 15th, Danaeo Musara and Xanthe Fick will be participating in a "Dot Day, Across Borders" event, celebrating World Dot day. This is in collaboration with 'The Maker Club", inspired by World Dot day, which will be linking 12 Zimbabwean pupils with pupils across the globe. The students will build a 3-D creative piece and present their projects and inspiration over Skype, to students in Pakistan and Portugal. Students from the UK and USA will also comment on the creations. The theme is "Make your mark”. We also wish them every success.
