Dear Parents
The PTA’s ‘Sponsored Walk & Fun Day’ was an incredible success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our thanks go to the PTA for organising the event, to all the pupils and parents who attended and walked and especially to the Grade 7’s for their innovative, enjoyable and exciting stalls.
At the National Institute of Allied Arts Annual Awards Ceremony held last Saturday, not only did we receive four National Prizes but Charnel Sithole was awarded the trophy for best Primary School artist in the country as well as the National Grade 6 prize. This really is a fantastic achievement and our congratulations go to Charnel.
There was some disruption this week as five teachers attended a two day Workshop on the new National Curriculum. We were able to source supply teachers to take their classes.
There was further disruption today as all our pupils were dosed for bilharzia and worms by the nursing staff from Belvedere Clinic as part of the Ministry of Health’s campaign. Our thanks go to the Nursing Staff who certainly had their hands full today
Our Swimming Team competed in their first Gala on Wednesday at Convent. It was a well swum very close gala with results listed below.
Our Tennis Teams also played matches this week and our Fillies Team are very excited as they are travelling to Barwick this afternoon where they will stay overnight to play in the Barwick Fillies Tennis Festival.
The Grade 7’s will be writing their ZIMSEC Grade 7 exam starting on Tuesday. They have all been working hard for the exams and are well prepared. We wish them all every success.
I will be giving a talk on our ELP classes to interested parents on Tuesday 11th October at 6:00pm in the Hall. The talk is being advertised as it is open to all interested parents. We are also announcing that we will be accepting boys into the ELP classes, only, as from 2017 as was part of the initial concept and proposal. This maybe of interest to parents who have sons who are Dyslexic & ADD. However, as there are only a maximum of ten pupils in each ELP class the number of boys we will be able to accommodate is very small.
We were very pleased to be informed by the nuns who run the Hatcliffe Orphanage that all the kitchen equipment we donated to them from our hostel kitchen refurbishment, including industrial stoves and ovens, have all been installed and are being used. They are all extremely grateful for our help.
