Dear Parents
Welcome back to all and a special welcome to all new parents joining our Bishopslea community.

We also welcome Mrs Marlene Headicar, who is joining us as receptionist, and Miss Swart who has joined us to teach one of the ELP classes, Grade 5S, which formally started this week.  We now have three ELP classes, 3C, 4G and 5S in their beautiful new classrooms.  The formal start of the ELP classes this term has been very exciting and rewarding with the positive effects already hugely apparent.

We made full use of the long holiday and undertook a number of renovations.  These include the complete refurbishment and refitting of the hostel kitchen, storerooms, office and ablutions to a very high standard.  All the cooking appliances are now gas, which is in line with our policy of energy conservation.  The kitchen not only feeds the boarders but also provides up to two hundred and thirty lunches a day for everyone staying for afternoon activities. This term we welcome a new chef, Mr. Smart Kanembiri, to our exceptional kitchen team.

The staff dining room, matron’s lounge and office, boarders TV room and the Shona Teachers office were also refurbished as part of the hostel works.

The kitchen area in the main office was converted to a Bursars office, the outside storeroom converted into a tea preparation area and archive room, and the music room has been completely refurbished and looks amazing.

Photots of all are attached.

As always, though, there was panic at the end of the holidays with contractors working up to the holiday Monday evening.  Being able to clean up and open the school as we did now seems something of a miracle, thanks to Mrs Matthee, Mr Dokwani and all our staff. We managed to start very smoothly and calmly with everyone settling back very quickly.

The hockey camp started on the holiday Monday and has continued every afternoon this week, preparing our senior teams for the season.  The hockey fields have been very well prepared with scarifying starting immediately after Sports Day last term.  Our thanks go to Mr Jambanja and his team for the fields, which are probably the best at the moment.

Afternoon activities begin on Monday as per the Afternoon Activities Time Table forwarded.  Please note that afternoon activities are compulsory on the set afternoons:

Grade 3 – 5 Tuesday and Thursday
Grade 6 – 7 Monday and Wednesday

We wish all our Moms a ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ on Sunday.

School Fees
Could we once again please ask parents to furnish us with copies of bank transfers to enable us to receipt school fees. Please note that our bank statements do not indicate depositors details or who the fees are in favour of, so without a copy of the deposit we are unable to allocate the fees and receipt.

Boarder/Day Scholar Special Dietary Requirements
Please would boarder, day boarder and day scholar parents inform us in writing of any food allergies or other specific dietary exclusions.

Yours sincerely
