Dear Parents
It’s that time of the year again when we welcome our annual visitors to Bishopslea.  The Abdims storks arrived on Tuesday.  Their annual migration from Eygpt heralds the beginning of the rainy season; very accurately this year as within two hours of them landing on our sports fields we had our first and most welcome rain.

This week has been the final week of preparation for the Inter-House Gala, which will be held tomorrow.  All pupils in Grades 3 – 7 who can swim a length will be participating.  Details and information follow.

Our Grade 5 classes are getting very excited as they will be going on their Environmental Camps to Imire Game Park next week.  Grade 5W leave on Monday morning and return on Wednesday and Grades 5M & 5S leave on Wednesday and return on Friday.  We wish them all a most enjoyable camp.

Inter-House Gala
The Inter-House Gala for Grade 3 – 7 will start at 8:30am.

All pupils participating should meet their House Captains at 8:00am on the netball field for warm up.  All pupils in Grades 3 – 7 who can swim a length will be participating in at least 2 events.  The events list with competitors is posted on the notice board.

Pupils should bring their correct Bishopslea swimming kit, including blue costume, house colour cap, full tracksuit, clean white socks and takkies.  They should bring two towels and should be covered in sun block.  Drinking water may be brought but not cool drink so as not to attract bees.  Please could parents ensure all items are clearly named.

Please note the following:

Please would parents not go to their children’s tents to talk etc during the gala and please do not send food and drinks to the pupils during the gala.

  1. The PTA will be selling breakfast, lunch and drinks for which we are most grateful.  However, please do not take glass into the pool area.

Swimming

Our congratulations go to Julie Tungamirai for breaking the 200m breastroke National Short Course Record for girls 11 and under with a new time of 3 minutes 12.79 seconds.  The record is currently being ratified.
