Dear Parents
Firstly we are very pleased to inform you that, in collaboration with the City of Harare’s Department of Engineering, Electrical and Mechanical Services, Bishopslea will be supplying power to the traffic lights on Bishop Gaul and Princes Road (Josiah Tongogarara) during power cuts. This is being offered as a service to the community in general and to lessen the backlog at the traffic lights for parents, especially at peak drop off and collection times. This is the first time a joint venture like this has been undertaken in Harare. Our sincere thanks go to the City’s Department of Engineering for their help, assistance and co-operation with this project, which we all hope will make the intersection safer for everyone.
We have had a very full week with all pupils in Grades 3 – 7 having written their end of year exams and the Grade 7’s having written their CHISZ Pre Secondary Shona Proficiency exam and their CHISZ Computer exams.
This week we also held our New Parents Meeting to introduce parents, whose daughters will be starting in January, to the school. We hosted a seminar on The Cambridge Primary Syllabus and a talk on Helping and Understanding children with Dyslexic and ADD, which was very well attended.
Last Saturdays PTA ‘Pub Night & Quiz’ was most enjoyable and entertaining. Although not as well supported as had been hoped, those who attended certainly enjoyed themselves.
This morning we all enjoyed the Grade 7 Hindu pupil’s presentation on Diwali, at assembly.
Next week, we will be holding our inaugural Swimming Boot Camp. Nineteen of our Grade 6 and 7 Team swimmers will stay in the hostel for the week, during which they will train and be coached in all aspects of swimming.
On Tuesday evening, we will be hosting a Combined Schools Marimba Concert, at which our pupils will be playing with girls from Chisipite Junior and boys from Hartmann House. The concert will begin at 6:00pm and is open to all parents and friends from all the schools.
We will be holding our annual Inter-House Gala next Saturday, 8th November, starting at 8:30am. Final swim offs for team selection will be held next week. Please note that all pupils in Grade 3 – 7 who can swim a length will be participating in the Gala and are expected to attend if on the House Team lists, which will be posted next week. The ‘A’ Individual Medleys will be held next Friday at 10:30am, as is traditional.
