Dear Parents
Welcome back to all and a special welcome to new parents and pupils.
This term we are pleased to welcome Mrs. Nell to the hostel as a matron.
Various renovations were undertaken during the holidays including an alteration to one of the teacher’s flats in the hostel and the re-laying and extending of the paving in front of the hall, which looks stunning. Unfortunately, the rains at the beginning of the holidays and the 55mm over the Easter weekend further delayed work on the rear car park and, consequently, the indoor hockey facility. However, the work is currently being undertaken and we all look forward to its completion.
Our hockey fields are looking amazing and are probably the best in the country at the moment. Our thanks go to Mr Jambanja and his team for their preparation of the fields.
There have been no afternoon activities this week except for hockey trials. However, we will be in full swing as from Monday with the afternoon activities, hostel lunches, day boarding starting and the first matches being played.
Please note that Day Boarding, Hostel lunches, the Afternoon Activities Timetable and the provisional Term Calendar have now all been forwarded with the lunch and day boarding returns due on Monday.
Grades 6H and 6M are all very excited as they will be heading off to Far & Wide on Sunday for their Environmental and Leadership Camp. We wish them an enjoyable and informative week.
Bishopslea’s Facebook Page
We are pleased to invite all parents and family members to follow our official Facebook page. You can find it by searching "@bishopslea" - once on the page please join the closed group which will enable you, as Bishopslea family, to have further access to photos of the school and internal happenings, which will not necessarily be posted on the public Facebook page.
The 800 strong Bishopslea Junior School Alumni Facebook page will also continue alongside this official page to keep the old girls connected to the school.
We do request that all other Facebook pages that have been created using Bishopslea's name, be diverted to the official page as we aim to create a more streamlined marketplace image. We would welcome those parents who would like to be a part of the page administration team to email us.
In addition we have launched our own YouTube channel for the school, which can be accessed using the following link: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrT31W4-f2DhFp8QmyqT30w
PTA Functions
The PTA are currently preparing for their annual ‘Movie Night’ which will be held on Friday 26th May. They are also preparing for their annual fund raising Golf Day, which will be held at Country Club on Friday, 14th July. Entry forms and Sponsorship letters and forms will be forwarded next week. This is always a very special and enjoyable event, which is very well supported. Please note that team entries will be accepted on a first come first serve basis as there are limited Tee Off times. The PTA will once again be appealing for donations of prizes for the Golf Day, which can be dropped off at the office.
