Dear Parents
Half Term appears to have been appreciated and enjoyed by all. We are now into the second and most hectic half of the term with many events and functions coming up, including three next week.
Firstly, next weeks is Book Week. The emphasis and theme will be ‘reading for pleasure’ with each class undertaking various activities to promote reading. The week will end with all pupils coming to school on Friday dressed as their favourite book characters. The PTA will also be holding a Book Week Cake Sale on Friday and various booksellers will be displaying books for sale. Books may be donated to the library. Donated books will have the pupils names inscribed on the inside of the covers.
On Wednesday afternoon next week we will be holding our Annual Bishopslea Invitation Track Meet. This Athletics meet, which will be competed in by 6 schools, is track events only and is popular with the visiting schools.
Then on Thursday evening the Grade 6’s will be putting on their Cultural Evening performance that they have all been busy rehearsing for. This popular and entertaining annual production will start at 6:30pm in the Hall. All parents and friends are invited to attend. The PTA will be selling drinks prior to the performance.
The National Institute of Allied Arts Eisteddfod begins next week and will run for four weeks. Our marimba entries will be the first to enter and will be performing next week as per the schedule below. We wish them every success.
On Saturday 14th February our Tennis Coaches arranged a Tennis Clinic for the U13 Team Squad. The clinic was a huge success with all players benefitting from the coaching. Our grateful thanks go to Mrs Brooke, Miss Jones, Mr Farai and Mrs Nel for organising the Clinic. A Clinic for the Fillies Squad is now being planned.
Our Cross Country Team travel to Eaglesvale this afternoon to compete in their Friendly Inter-Schools event. We wish our team every success.
As a result of traffic increasing in the mornings and causing longer travelling times to school, especially from the Northern Suburbs, we are looking at providing a limited morning only bus service from Borrowdale to school. To help provide the statistics we require to consider this, please would interested parents fill in and return the slips that will be brought home with pupils today. A return bus service cannot be considered as pupils end at different times depending on age, sports and activities.
